Financial Support
CICE will provide up to ¥150,000 in travel and accommodation support for up to 8 selected participants.
About the Writers’ Workshop
This two-day academic writing workshop is designed to help early-career researchers and graduate students, as well as non-English native scholars, develop their research into publishable journal articles. Participants will receive:
- Constructive feedback from journal editors and senior scholars
- Peer review from fellow participants
- Practical guidance on academic writing and publishing
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from early-career researchers and graduate students who are not presenting at CESA 2025 but are interested in developing their work for publication in The Journal of International Cooperation in Education (JICE) (https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/journal/jice).
Group 1: CESA 2025 Conference Presenters
Applicants who have already submitted an abstract and will be presenting at the CESA 2025 conference are eligible to apply using the same topic.
Please indicate your interest in joining the workshop and submit your CESA abstract via the designated link.
Group 2: Open Call
Applicants who have not submitted an abstract to the CESA 2025 main conference are also welcome to apply.
Please submit an abstract (up to 300 words) outlining the academic paper you wish to develop during the workshop. The proposed topic should be relevant to the fields of Comparative and International Education and/or Education and International Development.
Application Guidelines
- Submit your abstract (maximum 300 words) by 17 August 2025.
- If selected, you will be required to submit a full draft paper (approximately 8,000 words) several weeks prior to the workshop.
- All workshop participants must also register for the CESA 2025 main conference
